Fishing Spots

In this post I will be discussing the variety of fishing spots in Butte County, as well as some

of the species that can be fished for. Butte county holds many waterways, including lakes, rivers,

streams, and ponds. Many of these waterways can be fished and each hold their own species and

secrets.

One of my favorite places to fish in Butte County is the Sacramento River. The Sacramento

River flows through a large portion of Northern California and is home to a large variety of

fish species, including bass, trout, catfish, and salmon. The Sacramento River is celebrated

for its clear waters and an abundance of fish, attracting anglers of varying skill levels.

A notable highlight of this river is its flourishing Chinook salmon population, rendering it a

top spot for salmon fishing. The river is most popular during the salmon runs, eagerly aiming

to hook these prized catches and battling with these large fish.

Fishing in Big Chico Creek is fantastic for anyone who loves fishing in a peaceful place.

You can catch different kinds of trout there, like rainbow and brown trout.

You can fish with a fly or from the side of the creek. The creek is surrounded by nature,

and it's a nice challenge to catch the trout. Big Chico Creek is a great spot for a calm and

fun fishing trip. Although keep in mind there are special restrictions on fishing here, like

barbless hooks and catch and release.

An unsuspecting fishing spot I stumbled upon is Teichert Ponds in Chico. This man made pond is located

in the middle of Chico, yet remains peaceful and calm during the morning and evening.

This spot is a prime location for catching large bass, and is revered among bass fisherman as the

best spot other than Lake Oroville to catch monster bass in Butte County.

I hope to explore more spots in Butte County soon, with my targets set on Lake Oroville, and

Black Butte Lake.
